Last Sunday, Maƫl continued to teach through the book of Matthew, covering Matthew 18:10-14. Here, Jesus used a shepherding metaphor to help us understand how much the Father loves his people.

Jesus compared the Father to a shepherd who leaves the flock in order to find one sheep which has strayed away from the flock. If God cares about other believers that much, then we should care about them as well.

Thus, Jesus begins by telling us to “not despise” other believers. Remember, he had already said that we should “receive” one another (Matt. 18:5). This is a good reminder: Are we receiving and not despising all of our brothers and sisters in Christ?
